About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified Practice Supervisor to work collaboratively across Adult Social Care with Oxfordshire County Council.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in line with the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983, and other relevant legislation, offering personalised advice and guidance to individuals, families, and carers.
- Promote and support strength-based approaches within the team, ensuring informal networks, community assets, and relevant interventions are fully explored to meet assessed outcomes.
- Undertake timely, proportionate assessments, reviews, and interventions for individuals, families, and carers.
- Develop support plans that clearly reflect individual needs and desired outcomes, regardless of eligibility status.
- Identify and arrange appropriate services to promote independence, including reablement and assistive technology solutions.
- Manage a caseload through telephone assessments, face-to-face visits, clinic facilitation, and ongoing case prioritisation.
- Participate in duty systems, including providing telephone and emergency advice as needed.
- Fulfil the trusted assessor role, making professional decisions on when to refer to other health or social care specialists.
- Conduct safeguarding enquiries in line with the Care Act and local procedures, ensuring the ‘Making Safeguarding Personal’ approach is followed; act as Safeguarding Manager when required.
- Chair and coordinate complex investigations and casework when needed.
- Apply legal knowledge and professional judgement to balance risk and protection, enabling individuals to manage their own risks.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and defensible records in accordance with professional and organisational standards; prepare court or tribunal reports and provide evidence where required.
- Contribute to service development by sharing practice insights, attending supervision, participating in team meetings, and completing internal surveys or briefings.
- Provide supervision to allocated staff or students in line with Oxfordshire County Council supervision policy, supporting their professional development.
- Respond to complaints as required, participating in resolution meetings and applying learning to practice.
- Adhere to all relevant departmental policies and guidelines, including those related to data protection, confidentiality, and information sharing.
- Take ownership of individual and team performance targets to ensure service effectiveness.
- Maintain professional registration through active engagement in continuous professional development (e.g., as an AMHP, Best Interests Assessor, Practice Educator).
- Deputise for the Team Manager when necessary, ensuring continuity of leadership and oversight.
- Act as a lead practitioner in a designated area of specialism (e.g., Assistive Technology, Autism, Safeguarding, MCA, MARAC).
- Scrutinise and authorise the commitment of financial resources within delegated authority limits.
- Understand and work in accordance with the performance objectives of the team and wider department.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Good knowledge and IT ability (word processing, emailing, internet)
- Eligible to work in the UK
