About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated Social Worker to join the Children with Disabilities Team in Salford City Council.
Contracted Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Full-Time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out assessments under the Children Act 1989 and 2004, including Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Looked After Children (LAC) assessments.
- Evaluate the child’s developmental needs and the family’s ability to meet those needs.
- Develop tailored care plans in collaboration with families and professionals.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns involving children with disabilities, who may be at higher risk of abuse or neglect.
- Work with multi-agency safeguarding hubs (MASH) and attend strategy meetings, case conferences, and core groups.
- Monitor and review child protection plans.
- Advocate for the rights of the child to access education, health care, social care, and recreational opportunities.
- Help families navigate the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process and liaise with schools and SENCOs.
- Provide emotional and practical support to parents/carers.
- Respond to urgent situations, including family breakdown, hospitalization, or risks of exploitation or harm.
- Support short- or long-term placements, including respite care if needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using case management systems.
- Regularly review and update assessments and care plans.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Eligible to work in the UK
