About the Role:
This Advanced Practitioner Social Worker/Mental Health Officer post is available within our Integrated Community Mental Health Team.
This post is for a Qualified Social Worker with Mental Health Officer accreditation, and you must be registered with SSSC. You will be managed by the Team Leader supported by two Assistant Team Managers. You will therefore work closely with colleagues from disciplines within the Integrated Community Mental Health Team including Community Psychiatric Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Mental Health staff based within psychiatric wards. There is also an expectation that you will link with Social Work Community Care Locality Teams, Children & Families and Justice Teams in addition to multi-disciplinary working with Housing, Police Scotland and third-sector services.
đź’ĽKey Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex caseload as directed by the Team Manager/Assistant Team Manager, applying relevant knowledge from Social Work/Occupational Therapy practice, theory, research, and legislation.
- Continue to practice in post-qualifying areas such as Practice Educator, Mental Health Officer (MHO), etc.
- Support and empower practitioners by co-working complex cases to develop their competence and confidence, observing and reviewing practice (both verbal and written), and providing constructive feedback to build reflective supervision skills.
- Contribute to the delivery of induction programmes for new staff and the Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) supported year programme (and/or Occupational Therapy equivalent, as appropriate).
- Coordinate work experience placements within the team, including Social Workers/Occupational Therapists in training and other vocational placements.
- Chair meetings as directed by the Team Manager/Assistant Team Manager.
- Expand and consolidate knowledge in one or more specialist areas of practice, understanding connections between specialisms and other practice fields, and promote a culture of professional curiosity, research involvement, and evaluation.
- Promote, articulate, and support a positive Social Work/Occupational Therapy identity by encouraging best practice through practice development sessions and sharing knowledge, skills, and experience — ensuring service delivery is trauma-informed and responsive.
- Contribute to single and multi-agency training, learning, and development activities relevant to specialist areas of practice, drawing on extensive experience and broad knowledge.
- Contribute to service development, including the creation of policies, protocols, procedures, and innovative ways of working.
 Requirements:
- Recognised professional social work qualification (at degree level or equivalent)
- Registered with SSSC or required to be registered on commencement of appointment.
- UK Driving Licence preferred
