About the Role:
We are seeking a Social Worker to join our dedicated Care Leavers Team at Bradford Metropolitan District Council.
Contracted Hours – 37 hours per week (Full-Time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of the most complex and high-risk cases involving children in need, child protection, and children in care
- Lead on cases that require advanced skills in assessment, planning, and intervention.
- Conduct in-depth assessments using a range of theoretical frameworks and tools.
- Deliver evidence-informed interventions to improve outcomes for children and families.
- Act as a lead practitioner in safeguarding children, identifying and managing risk effectively.
- Provide professional expertise in strategy discussions, child protection conferences, and legal proceedings.
- Prepare high-quality court reports and act as an expert witness.
- Lead on Public Law Outline (PLO) processes and care proceedings.
- Support and mentor less experienced staff, including Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) and students.
- Offer practice guidance and informal supervision when appropriate.
- Collaborate with partner agencies (e.g. health, education, police) to ensure coordinated support for children and families.
- Take a leadership role in multi-agency meetings and planning processes.
- Contribute to service improvement and the development of policies and procedures.
- Champion best practice and support the implementation of new initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with Social Work England standards and codes of practice.
- Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) and reflect on practice to enhance effectiveness.
- Ensure individual work supports the achievement of local and national performance indicators.
- Take responsibility for accurate, timely recording and quality assurance of case records.
- Respond to urgent child protection situations with authority and confidence.
- Make difficult decisions in high-pressure situations, often without immediate management oversight.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Eligible to work in the UK
