🔎About the role:
Brent Council are looking for a qualified Social Worker to join their Assessment Team.
Contracted Hours:Â 36 hours per week (Full-Time)
đź’ĽKey Responsibilities:
- Contribute positively to the service’s delivery by working flexibly and proactively to meet the council’s goals.
- Lead and manage staff to achieve high performance and efficient service delivery, fostering staff development and improvement.
- Ensure staff knowledge and understanding of autism consistently guide all aspects of practice.
- Collaborate with other Direct Services staff, internal Brent employees, and external organizations to coordinate and develop a variety of programs in employment, education, training, and recreation for individuals with learning and physical disabilities, challenging behaviors, and autism.
- Work with the Team Manager to oversee the daily operations of the Centre, providing leadership to the team of Community Support Workers, including planning, organizing, assessing performance, and identifying their professional development needs.
- Conduct staff supervision and appraisals in accordance with Council procedures.
- Support the recruitment, selection, and induction of staff, ensuring compliance with equal opportunities policies.
- Contribute positively to service delivery, working flexibly and proactively to achieve the council’s objectives.
- Lead and manage staff to achieve optimal performance and effective operational delivery, while enhancing staff capabilities.
- Oversee a customer-focused service and ensure efficient use of resources.
- Ensure that the council’s overarching vision, values, and principles are integrated into service requirements.
- Foster strong working relationships and act as an ambassador and advocate for external organizations.
- Stay updated on developments in service delivery and best practices to ensure the service operates effectively and meets high standards.
- Facilitate meetings with staff, service users, and carers, including occasional meetings with health professionals.
- Maintain a professional relationship with service users and staff, emphasizing confidentiality and adherence to professional boundaries.
- Assist service users with personal care needs as necessary, respecting their culture, dignity, and always demonstrating respect. This may include support with washing, dressing, toileting, feeding, intimate personal care, and medication administration.
- Prevent, intervene, and manage challenging behavior.
- Plan and help implement relevant mainstream activities for service users in line with the service’s objectives.
- Ensure the well-being of clients by providing the necessary support to uphold their dignity, independence, privacy, and choice.
- Guide Community Support Workers in supporting service users in a culturally sensitive manner.
 Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Â Significant proven experience or a qualification in working with adults with autism challenging behaviour
- Eligible to work in the UK
