About the Role:
This Advanced Social Worker role is based in the Children & Families Team, North Devon.
The post holder will provide professional leadership and supervision/appraisal of staff, working in partnership with the manager, staff and others, contributing to an effective and efficient service along with supporting the Team Manager on day to day operational issues.
Contracted Hours –Â 37 hours per week (Full-Time)
 Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Supervision
- Provide professional supervision and guidance on casework and practice issues to unqualified staff, alternatively qualified staff, students, and social workers
- Deliver individual or group critically reflective supervision to social workers, particularly where they are line-managed by non-social work professionals
- Deliver on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to social care workers, including direct practice observations in line with service and national standards
- Act as a Practice Educator or commit to completing Practice Educator training to support and supervise social work students and aspiring educators
- Co-work complex cases with less experienced social workers to support their development through shared expertise and reflective practice
- Contribute to operational and service development within Devon’s Social Care and its partner organisations
Day to Day Operations
- Provide oversight and guidance to Team Managers on case allocation, workload management, service delivery issue resolution, case planning, evaluation and review, performance monitoring in line with policies and standards, and service-wide audit activity with a focus on quality of practice
- Chair meetings and deputise for Team Managers at practice-based forums as required, such as core groups and Best Interest meetings
- Effectively manage and monitor financial resources within allocated budgets
- Contribute to the induction and onboarding of new staff under the direction of the Team Manager
Practice Lead
- Support the embedding of excellent practice through a variety of learning and development opportunities
- Lead and participate in training and development activities as necessary to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills that meet national standards, including encouraging and supporting opportunities for critical analysis and learning from practice
- Make links with training and learning providers to maintain current knowledge that promotes evidence-based practice and informs relevant research
- Develop an area or areas of expertise that support good practice and take responsibility for sharing learning across the Council
- Maintain a developed knowledge of social care policies and procedures and stay continuously informed about new and amended legislation and national guidance
General
- Act in accordance with all relevant legislation and statutory guidelines and Devon’s Social Care policies, standards and procedures
- Comply with the requirements of all Devon County Council policies, procedures, and staff instructions, including responsibilities under Health and Safety Policy and Procedures
- Work collaboratively and flexibly in order to be responsive to the wider practice needs of the service, including moving to different teams or having oversight of practice-based work of those outside your team when required
- Invest in continual professional development in order to properly fulfil the functions within this role (professional capability framework/regulatory body)
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the post as required by the Team Manager

- Registered with Social Work England
- Eligible to work in the UK
