About the Role:
This Social Worker role is based in the Child Protection Team, North Blandford.
The post is responsible for delivering alongside other professionals a range of statutory services to children, young people and their families in regard to the Children Act 1989/other relevant legislation in order to deliver both a prevention and safeguarding service. The role is delivered across a range of different service delivery contexts.
 Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain registration with Social Work England and undertake statutory and other tasks related to the responsibilities of the service group, in accordance with relevant legislation and the Children’s Social Worker Framework
- Deliver the service in accordance with statutory responsibilities set out in the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation
- Undertake assessments of children’s needs in accordance with Directorate policies and procedures, in conjunction with children, families, carers, and other professionals, and in a timely manner
- Create and maintain effective, timely care plans based on assessed needs
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children
- Apply specific methods of intervention as appropriate
- Provide support, information, and advice to families to help parents become more self-reliant
- Prepare reports for courts and various meetings, and present to a variety of professionals in different settings; attend and give evidence in legal proceedings as required
- Maintain essential records and input data into the core computer system as required
- Make records available for statistical purposes or inspection
- Attend team meetings and other relevant meetings as required by the Team Manager
- Work within financial and budgetary guidelines
- Engage in and prepare for supervision and appraisal through self-evaluation against the Children’s Social Work Framework, and ensure continuous professional development is maintained and evidenced
- Undertake required training and ongoing post-qualification professional development
- Carry out any other lesser or comparable duties related to the specialised function of the team or teams as required

- Qualified Social Work
- Registered with Social Work England
- Eligible to work in the UK
