About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Justice team. The post holder will undertake all aspects of Statutory Prison Based Justice Social Worker’s role. You will understand the importance of relational practice, have personal qualities, professional skills and knowledge which will be applied and tested in all aspects of service delivery within a busy justice team.
💼Key Responsibilities:
Statutory Responsibilities and Accountability
- Prepare all criminal justice reports for Court and Parole board.
- Undertake formal risk and needs assessments for clients including schedule 1, sexual and violent offenders in compliance with national guidance and service level requirements
- Supervise clients and implement LSCMI action/care plans, develop and deliver individual programmes based on identified crimonogenic needs
- Undertake statutory tasks in respect of prisoners subject to mandatory supervision on release including liaison with prison based Criminal Justice Social staff and other relevant agencies
- Ensure that interventions are compliant with statutory legislative requirements and standards
- Operate within and adhere to national and local policy framework
- Ensure ongoing registration with the relevant professional body (SSSC)
- Ensure skills, knowledge and understanding of the social work role adheres to future legislative and policy changes
- Ensure that professional practice is current, relevant and complies with the requirement of CPD
Accountability for the Protection/Welfare and Safety of Individuals
- Deliver effective and safe social work practices that contribute the achievement of better outcomes
- Ensure there is effective communication across all relevant agencies to ensure better protection of vulnerable people
- Work closely with all relevant agencies to ensure information is shared appropriately to enhance public safety
- Involvement in the assessment and management of risk and ensure effective case planning and interventions to minimise risk ensuring the highest level of public protection and community safety
- Contribute to the protection of children, families and adults by adhering to and applying the robust systems and procedures in place and thereby contributing to better outcomes for children, adults and families
- Recognise and respond to the need for early interventions that benefit individuals in need of care and protection
Accountability for Community Engagement
- Promote the role of Social Work in East Dunbartonshire
- Promote a culture of social inclusion and empowerment for individuals and communities
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationship with relevant community groups and individuals
- Take account of the views of vulnerable individuals and group
Customer Service Delivery
- Communicate with key stakeholders in identifying and taking action to meet the needs of different customer groups.
- Consult regularly and seek feedback to improve overall service delivery to stakeholders.
- Manage customer expectations by responding and prioritising customer requests, taking account of other work demands.
- Support a customer focused culture in service delivery and improvement to enhance the performance of the organisation.
- Deliver a high quality service within the terms of service and standards agreed in East Dunbartonshire Council
- Promote a culture of social inclusion and empowerment for individuals and communities
- Promote the role of the social work service in East Dunbartonshire
- Take account of the views of vulnerable individuals and groups and higher levels of customer care.

- Communicate within the Criminal Justice & Low Moss Team by being open and approachable and developing working relationships with fellow team members.

- Co-operate with and support others within the Criminal Justice Social Work Team through sharing knowledge, experience and best practice.

Requirements:
- Recognised professional social work qualification (at degree level or equivalent)
- Registered with SSSC or required to be registered on commencement of appointment.
- Knowledge of social work policy and legislation with particular specialist knowledge of Criminal Justice.
- Experience in Justice and with training in the LS/CMI SA07 and SARA essential
- UK Driving Licence preferred
