About the Role:
Hertfordshire County Council are looking for a Qualified Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Team based in the West.
Your responsibility will be to work collaboratively with multi-agencies to deliver the best outcomes for children and their families.
Contracted Hours: 37 hours per week (Full-Time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Hold and manage a diverse caseload of children and families requiring support under Child in Need, Child Protection, Public Law Outline (PLO), and Care Proceedings.
- Work within the Hertfordshire Family Safeguarding Model, using motivational interviewing and a multi-disciplinary approach to engage families and promote sustained positive change.
- Undertake Children and Families Assessments to identify needs, risks, and strengths, informing child-focused and outcome-driven intervention plans.
- Facilitate and attend Child in Need meetings, Core Group meetings, Case Conferences, PLO meetings, and Court Hearings, ensuring that planning is robust, collaborative, and timely.
- Conduct statutory home visits and direct work with children to capture their voice, wishes, and lived experience, ensuring this informs all decision-making and planning.
- Collaborate effectively with professionals from adult-focused services (e.g., substance misuse, domestic abuse, and mental health specialists) to support whole-family safeguarding and well-being.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely case records on the Liquidlogic Children’s System (LCS), evidencing assessments, interventions, planning, and outcomes.
- Contribute to high-quality court reports, chronologies, and other statutory documentation, including presenting evidence confidently in legal proceedings when required.
- Apply strengths-based, trauma-informed, and relationship-based practice to empower families to identify and sustain the changes needed to ensure children’s safety and well-being.
- Participate actively in regular supervision, reflective practice, and continuous professional development to support safe, ethical, and effective practice.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Extensive Childrens experience with a keen interest to be a part of the ‘Family Safeguarding’ way of working
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
- Strong Court experience & assessment skills
- Eligible to work in the UK
