About the Role:
We are seeking a Social Worker to join our dedicated Children Looked After Team at Hull City Council.
Contracted Hours – 37 hours per week (Full-Time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and/or vulnerable adults.
- Contribute to Hull’s overarching Children’s Social Care strategy to ensure safety, permanency, and stability.
- Work in partnership with colleagues, parents, and carers using child-centred, systemic practice.
- Engage in critical reflection and constructive challenge across professional contexts.
- Undertake direct work with children, young people, and families individually or alongside colleagues.
- Actively participate in weekly team meetings to ensure purposeful social work.
- Ensure regular, active communication with children, young people, and families.
- Maintain up-to-date case recording for meetings, panels, court, and reviews.
- Engage in professional decision-making regarding complex/high-risk cases.
- Participate in Hull’s professional development framework and continuous learning.
- Comply with Health and Safety legislation and Council corporate policies.
- Advise on and participate in complex/high-risk decision-making processes.
- Prepare for and attend decision-making panels, e.g., Resource Allocation Panel.
- Prepare for and attend court as required in legally involved cases.
- Provide co-working support and professional advice to other staff members.
- Deputise for the Team Manager and liaise with Group Manager on high-risk cases.
- Provide supervision and contribute to the education of social work students.
- Provide monthly professional supervision to the Family Practitioner.
- Support and engage in practice development groups.
- Contribute professional opinion to policy changes and new working practices.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Eligible to work in the UK
