About the Role:
The London Borough of Bromley are looking for a qualified Senior Social Worker to join their Referral & Assessment team.
Contracted Hours: 36 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- With appropriate supervision, assess and provide services to children and families in need, following relevant legislation, regulations, and policies, including for those with complex needs.
- Ensure services are efficiently delivered by liaising with other divisions, departments, NHS trusts, schools, carers, and external providers as needed.
- Maintain high professional standards in your own workload and promote these standards within the team and division.
- Senior Practitioners may supervise staff (up to level III Social Workers) and share in the operational management of the service.
- All staff are expected to maintain professional practice and work in line with the departmental vision, values, and procedures.
- Manage a caseload of children and families by conducting assessments, planning and implementing interventions, coordinating services, and referring to mental health teams when needed.
- Work within Child Protection guidelines to handle cases on the child protection register, including formulating plans, providing conference reports, and using legal frameworks to protect children.
- Take responsibility for children in care by developing care plans, maintaining contact, ensuring health and education needs are met, and adhering to procedural requirements.
- Act as duty social worker as required, providing guidance to less experienced colleagues.
- Recommend financial expenditure related to care plans and manage delegated financial responsibilities.
- Undertake training and stay updated on changes to procedures, legislation, and professional practices.
- Contribute to the development of practice within the team, assist in training, and represent the team on working groups and bodies.
- Promote Equal Opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices in all work, following relevant legislation and council policies.
- Undertake additional duties as necessary to meet the evolving needs of the service.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England (SWE)
- Eligible to work in the UK
