About the Role:
We are seeking a Social Worker to join our dedicated Area Team at Worcestershire County Council.
All social workers are currently expected to undertake a range of work within the broad sphere of family placement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, assess and prepare prospective adoptive parents for children with a wide range of needs. This will include interviewing perspective parents, compiling reports and providing key advice to assist with the Panel’s decision process on selecting adoptive parents.
- Support approved adoptive families to find a match, then to support approved adopters during introductions and the placement of a child, through to the making of an adoption order, including representing them at court and providing any training or guidance necessary as identified.
- Attend Adoption Panel at both Luton and other adoption Agencies, presenting comprehensive reports and analyses regarding all aspects of proposed adopter approval and matches.
- Play a leading role in the Permanency Planning process supporting child care social workers with decision making around permanency planning. Co-working permanency planning processes and particular lead on adoption processes, guiding and supporting children’s teams.
- Facilitate the matching of children with potential prospective adopters through Family Finding profiling, both locally and further afield. On occasions this may require travel all over the country. Collaboration with a range of carers and professionals, utilising planning and co-ordination skills to realise effective outcomes.
- Provide assessments of need for adoptive families, advice, guidance and assistance with regard to access to birth records counselling, intermediary work and other post adoption support; undertake further duties at the request of the Management Team.

- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Eligible to work in the UK
