About the Role:
Manchester City Council are seeking a Senior Assessment Officer to join their team.
The Senior Assessment Officer will carry out assessments and observations of citizens, to determine citizens’ eligibility under the ‘subject to further assessment’ criteria for provision of a Blue Badge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out the Blue Badge ‘subject to further assessment’ process for citizens presenting with a physical walking difficulty and non-visible (hidden) conditions, by triaging and carrying out clinic-based assessments in line with the Department for Transport Local Authority Guidance, in order to provide an efficient and equitable service, achieving outcomes appropriate to the guidelines.
- Monitor, review and evaluate assessments as required, determining suitable adjustments to ensure citizens’ needs are met at the highest standard.
- Identify when a citizen may benefit from walking equipment and assess for and issue the equipment as part of clinic assessments.
- Refer customers to appropriate services based on the assessment and observation carried out, ensuring the provision of services which support citizens in a way that maximises their independence and enables them to achieve maximum health and well-being.
- Maintain accurate, timely and relevant records manually and electronically to achieve service performance and efficiency.
- Identify safeguarding and mental capacity issues and refer to manager as appropriate, assisting in investigations of allegations of any form of abuse to vulnerable adults and children.
- Contribute to the promotion of professional development and the identification of appropriate training opportunities.
- Personal commitment to continuous self development and service improvement.

Requirements:
- Hold Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy or a nursing qualification such as Registered General Nurse or Enrolled Nurse.
- Registered with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
- Have an understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to the provision of Blue Badges.
- Enhanced DBS Check essential
- Eligible to work in the UK
