About the Role:
We are seeking a Social Worker to join our dedicated Court Team at Nottinghamshire County Council.
Contracted Hours – 37 hours per week (Full-Time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Be allocated court cases in public and private proceedings, completing all assessments and evidence submissions within agreed timescales and within the 26-week period.
- Provide high-quality safeguarding assessments and contribute to a full range of permanence planning options for children.
- Act as a co-worker on specific cases where additional professional support or mentoring is required to assist the allocated worker.
- Undertake separate or independent social work assessments to prevent delay in case progression.
- Provide mentoring to social work colleagues in the court team and in operational teams.
- Participate in developmental work, identify training needs, and deliver local briefings to staff and other agencies.
- Disseminate information about new and relevant changes in policy, procedures, and legislation relating to family law and court social work practice.
- Maintain full, accurate, and up-to-date records in line with departmental procedures to meet quality assurance requirements.
- Collaborate and develop working relationships with colleagues from statutory and independent agencies.
- Act as a positive role model and promote high standards of professional social work practice.
- Ensure that all national and local policies and procedures are followed.
- Provide high-quality evidence to court to enable timely decision-making for children.
- Work in accordance with Nottinghamshire County Council’s Code of Conduct and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Code of Practice.
- Demonstrate continual professional development in line with HCPC regulations and requirements.
- Participate in team activities such as team meetings, case discussions, and reviews of team practice.
- Take part in regular supervision sessions.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation relating to children and families, including knowledge of national and local policy and procedures in relation to family courts, children and families safeguarding
- Significant post-qualifying experience in child care social work, including experience in safeguarding and care planning and training relevant to this post.
- Eligible to work in the UK
