About the Role:
Oldham Council are seeking a Social Worker to join their dedicated Duty & Advice Team.
Your role is to have a responsibility for a caseload, including undertaking assessments, developing Care & Support Plans, and revising them as appropriate once they are implemented. To improve life opportunities for Service Users, Carers and Families using social work methods and models. To continue to develop professionally, and be accountable for the delivery of, and promote, social work good practice.
This is a permanent role within Oldham Council.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare for social work involvement by reviewing case notes, gathering information, and supporting newly qualified social workers.
- Assess support needs for service users, carers, and families, and assist in screening referrals and developing Care & Support Plans.
- Deliver, evaluate, and update Care & Support Plans to address practical and emotional social care needs.
- Support service users, carers, and families in making informed choices and decisions.
- Act proactively on safeguarding concerns, following policies and procedures when abuse is suspected.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks, contributing to positive behavioural changes to reduce harm.
- Respond to crisis situations with appropriate urgency and legal intervention where necessary.
- Ensure timely and accurate updates to systems (e.g., Mosaic), maintaining high data quality and confidentiality.
- Participate in and, where appropriate, chair meetings such as case conferences, panels, and court appearances.
- Advocate on behalf of service users, carers, and families within corporate and policy boundaries.
- Provide reports, data, and statistics for panels, courts, and other decision-making forums.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with partner agencies, including health and voluntary sectors.
- Embrace changes in working practices, especially those involving ICT and digital tools.
- Engage in formal and reflective supervision to evaluate performance and support professional development.
- Report service issues to management and suggest improvements to enhance service efficiency.
- Attend and participate in training and development in line with local and national requirements.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Eligible to work in the UK
