About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated Community Team at the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Your role is to provide advice and information relating to the provision of Social Care for Adults / Older People / Children and to undertake social care assessment, care planning, monitoring and review service for service users with highly complex needs within the Greenwich Prison Cluster, using an integrated case management approach.
Contracted Hours – 35 hours per week (Full-Time)
Key Responsibilities:
Managerial
- Contribute to service development plans through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development and implementation of quality standards, policies, and procedures.
- Represent the Advanced Practitioners/OT Integrated Lead when required to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Provide regular supervision to designated team members, supporting development and performance.
- Promote performance management and report on staff performance, absence, and conduct issues.
- Take delegated responsibility for setting individual and team standards, priorities, and allocating work.
- Ensure routine collection of performance data and staff compliance with reporting systems.
- Promote the Council’s equal opportunities policy in all service delivery and personal practice.
- Maintain and update accessible service information for the public in various formats.
Professional Leadership
- Contribute to service and organisational development and support a learning culture within the team.
- Lead on specific projects and deliver presentations internally and externally as directed.
- Support the learning of others, including delivering Trusted Assessor training and internal/external consultation.
- Provide practice guidance and consultation to colleagues across health, social care, and other departments.
- Support team members in managing and prioritising their workload.
- Offer peer support to new staff and supervise staff/students as appropriate to grade and role.
- Participate in cross-team cover arrangements as directed by the Advanced Practitioner or Management Team.
Problem Solving
- Work creatively and flexibly using OT techniques to case manage high-risk situations and resolve challenges.
- Maintain up-to-date Moving & Handling knowledge in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Keep current with housing and social care legislation relevant to service provision.
- Respect and collaborate effectively with multi-agency professionals and their respective roles.
- Use appropriate assessment tools and rehabilitative approaches to promote independence and wellbeing.
- Allocate resources according to local and national policies, priorities, and legal requirements.
Case Recording
- Ensure accurate recording of clinical reasoning and decision-making in line with Council procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of service user information in accordance with legislation, prison guidance, and Caldicott principles.
- Respond to and compile information on complaints and service provision issues as requested by management.
Requirements:
- Occupational Therapy Qualification
- Registered with HCPC
- To adhere to the College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct and Health & Care Professions Council Standards of Proficiency within their role.
- Eligible to work in the UK
