About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified Team Manager to work within ARCH, our hospital discharge team, at Stepping Hill Hopsital.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Delivery
- Provide leadership at an appropriate level to establish and maintain a strength based culture of teamwork, achievement, accountability outcome focused and assessment and provision.
- To support the (Senior) Service Manager to manage resources, budget, assets, projects and staffing to maximise achievement of goals and required service standards in a safe and timely way for a specified team.
- Work collaboratively within the service, across the Council and with partner organisations to deliver seamless Social Care and Health services at an appropriate level in order to improve outcomes for the people of Stockport and maximise operational efficiencies.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with relevant stakeholders to facilitate effective contract and relationship management and achieve the most appropriate and desirable outcomes for our service users.
- In collaboration with the service manager manage change effectively, working with colleagues to respond to external drivers and ensure that services remain fit for purpose now and in the future.
- Manage and develop the workforce to enable them to flourish and perform at an optimum level; providing effective management support to address performance issues in a timely manner to maximise individual and team outcomes.
- Provide advice and recommendations to senior management on policy and operational matters in a specialist area including the impact of changes in legislation, regulation and policy on the Council and its stakeholders

- To fulfil personal requirements, where appropriate, with regards to Council policies and procedures, standards of attendance, health, safety and welfare, customer care, emergency, evacuation, security and promotion of the Council’s priorities.
People Management
- With support from the Service Manager Lead and manage an operational team including, but not limited to, objective setting, identifying learning and development needs, coaching and welfare.
- Deputise and make decisions as appropriate in the absence of the (Senior) Service Manager to ensure the service continues to function efficiently and effectively.
- Act as an innovative, transformational manager who provides the appropriate challenge and/or support to senior managers and their teams.
- To facilitate personal development of staff, through the development of the workforce.
- Where required, provide on-call rota for Adult Social Care providing senior management support in the event of an emergency or urgent decision-making.
- To monitor and manage practice by Assistant Team Managers and formulate plans and workstreams to support the development of improved practice. To implement changes in practice or procedures, identified through regular monitoring or review or as outlined by senior management.
- To allocate work to an operational team ensuring effective performance, and the implementation of managerial and professional policies.
- Under the direction of the (Senior) Service Manager, to undertake HR related duties in relation to the specified service area, including (but not limited to) performance management, sickness monitoring and recruitment.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the service manager as and when required
Financial Management & Value for Money
- To undertake monitoring of the service budgets allocated to the Service area within financial limits and policies. Reporting expenditure and commitments to the (Senior) Service Manager who will retain overall responsibility for the management of the service budgets within the financial limits and policies. To be responsible for the management of the service budgets, allocated to the Service area within financial limits and policies.
- To report expenditure, proposals and commitments to the (Senior) Service Manager, and to ensure that Value For Money is achieved.
- To ensure that appropriate governance procedures are followed in respect of procurement legislation and Council Policy.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Minimum of 3 years PQE
- Eligible to work in the UK
