About the Role:
We are seeking an Independent Reviewing Officer to join our team at Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.
The role is initially for 4 months to cover sickness absence. It is working 30 hours over 4 days per week with flexibility in start and finish times and flexible working/use of TOIL. The role is primarily as an Independent Reviewing Officer to review plans for cared for children and pathway plans of care leavers. Some members of the team also chair CP conferences and while this is not expected in the role, there may be occasions when the post-holder is asked to undertake this work to support the service.
 Key Responsibilities:
- Convene and chair inter-agency Child Protection Conferences to identify risk and formulate Protection Plans.
- Chair reviews for Looked After Children to scrutinise practice and promote positive outcomes.
- Promote active participation of parents, carers, and young people in conferences and reviews.
- Ensure views of parents, carers, and children inform assessments and action plans.
- Advise professionals on safeguarding and care planning to support best practice.
- Maintain effective systems for regular review of Protection and Care Plans.
- Support development and monitoring of policies to uphold high professional standards.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes for safeguarding and child protection.
- Undertake project work in support of the Local Safeguarding Children Board.
- Deliver and develop training to enhance multi-agency professional skills and confidence.
- Chair strategy meetings on safeguarding issues, including allegations and exploitation cases.
- Carry out additional duties as required by the Corporate Director for Children and Young People.
