About the Role:

You will lead on and promote effective service delivery and provide high-quality support and supervision to workers based in our Children and Families Team. đź’ĽKey Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to relevant staff, ensuring continuous professional development.
- Manage, direct, and coordinate employees effectively.
- Lead on complex case planning, including decisions regarding the accommodation of children and management of high-risk offenders in the community.
- Chair relevant meetings related to case planning for vulnerable children and adults.
- Implement effective supervision to maintain high standards of practice and ensure adherence to relevant procedures.
- Ensure team members are aware of and comply with SSSC codes of conduct, legislation, policies, and procedural requirements.
- Monitor, audit, and evaluate practice within the designated Social Work team, including both direct work with service users and indirect tasks such as recording and reporting.
- Develop and implement performance improvement plans where necessary, and monitor practice in line with disciplinary outcomes.
- Develop systems and processes for robust data collection to support continuous improvement, analysing complex information on service demands and performance to ensure resources align with operational pressure points.
- Participate in workforce planning by analysing data on vacancies and experience levels, and lead the development of frontline staff to address identified gaps.
- Contribute to the strategic development of social work services, including leading specific projects aligned with national developments and reporting progress to strategic boards.
- Ensure compliance with the Council’s Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.
- Work within the designated team budget, including staffing allocations.
- Review expenditure against the budget, take corrective action where needed, and report to senior managers as required.
- Authorise payments and financial awards to service users as appropriate within delegated authority levels.
- Monitor expenditure on commissioned placements, such as external foster and residential placements.
- Participate in the budget planning process for the designated team and wider service area.
- Engage, where appropriate, in discussions with other agencies and services regarding Service Level Agreements and contractual matters.
- Act as a keyholder for the team’s building and manage buildings, equipment, and resources effectively, including reporting repairs and maintenance issues.
- Oversee recruitment, selection, and training processes for the team or service area, ensuring fair and consistent practice in line with Renfrewshire Council procedures.
 Requirements:
- Recognised professional social work qualification (at degree level or equivalent)
- Registered with SSSC or required to be registered on commencement of appointment.
- UK Driving Licence preferred
