About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Practitioner to join our dedicated Family Support Team at Thurrock Council.
37 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Working in a long term Child Protection Team. Managing caseloads of children subject to Child Protection Plans; Children in Need plans and Child in Care (CIC) plans.
- Holding a complex caseload all of which are in care proceedings.
- Initiating Public Law Outline (PLO) and Care Proceedings, i.e. preparing Witness Statements and Care Plans for court.
- Completion of parenting capacity assessments, sibling assessments and assessments of potential kinship / connected person assessments including Viability Assessments and Special Guardianship Assessments.
- Providing evidenced based analysis of significant harm to inform decisions within the court arena to achieve permanence ensuring that the child’s voice is heard.
- Undertaking Child Protection Enquiries under Section 47 of the Children’s Act of 1989.
- Preparing Child Protection Conference Reports and presenting cases at Child Protection Conferences.
- Convening and chairing Core Group Meetings.
- Undertaking Core Assessments within the Child in Need Framework and implementing Child In Need Plans. This includes chairing Child in Need meetings and reviewing Plans.
- Undertaking Pre-Birth Assessments under Section 47 of the Children’s Act of 1989Conducting home visits for monitoring purposes to promote the welfare of children.
- Conducting home visits, including school visits to safeguard children adhering to statutory guidelines under the above stated plans.
- Liaising and working closely with partnership agencies to support the families.
- Completing Court Reports for Private Law Proceedings such as Section 7 and 37 Reports.
- Completing Child in Care reports in preparation of Child in Care Conferences
- Hold “Stability Meetings” to plan for placement about to breakdown
- Completing direct work with children and families
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Must have experience working with families in a Social Work environment.
- Eligible to work in the UK
