About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified Social Worker to join our dedicated Children & Families Team at Portsmouth City Council.
As a Children’s Social Worker you will be at the forefront of assessing need and risk for vulnerable children and their families. You will be responsible for achieving positive change and improved outcomes by undertaking high quality assessments, care planning and, as appropriate, child protection investigations, to prevent the separation of children from their families where possible. You will ensure that children and young people are adequately protected in line with our policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
Contracted Hours – 37 hours per week (Full-Time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and interpret information to prioritise needs and develop intervention plans.
- Work proactively within a team to assess needs and negotiate effective outcomes.
- Collaborate with carers, colleagues, and external agencies to deliver effective services.
- Communicate clearly in writing and orally, explaining complex information and using negotiation skills.
- Recognise own accountability limits and seek appropriate support, advice, and supervision.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Experienced worker with at least 3 years experience
- Recent Front Line – Child Protection work
- Eligible to work in the UK
